Playdate in Boston

We recently traveled to Boston for a much anticipated playdate with some dear ones who used to live down the street. 15 hours after leaving home, we arrived... in Providence. They picked us up from the airport in Providence and drove us back to Boston. Layover in Phili kinda slowed us down.

Next morning, we played in the park.





Springtime in New England is quite nice!



Oh, and of course, a college friend was also getting married at the Harbor. Check out these handsome boys!



These two were born the same week and get along so wonderfully well. It was such an enjoyable weekend with these little buddies.

What' more fun than a wedding? Picking up and fighting over the best sticks, of course! And then, um, throwing them in the harbor.



And of course, the bride. One of the very few images that I could catch of her. Too many people competing for her attention!



Next day was the best adventure of all: Boston Children' Museum!

Turns out they let big kids climb it too!

...rockwall climbing, power generation, Golfball Raceway Tracks, and topped off with a big black-and-white cookie from the place next door! Man, what a fun place. And what a great time with missed friends. Can't wait until this summer when Southwest Airlines starts flying directly to Boston!

Local Orchestra plays "Imagine Nation" for Rev

A local orchestra, consisting of many the Noise Revival musicians, recently performed a piece that was inspired by my very own little Revolution. Did I mention that his dad composed the piece? So Rev chose his outfit and dressed himself for the event, and off we went...



This was the 27 piece orchestra playing "Imagine Nation."



Rev and Granny captured by the music. Notice his ear plugs. He insisted on wearing them the entire time. After the show, he tucked them in his tiny vest pockets... and they were promptly lost.

If a boy falls in the forest...

I love love love this time of year. Daylight hours are longer, temperature is warmer, and now we have a new neighborhood to explore. Yesterday we found this tree, which had fallen for no apparent reason. The leaves at the top and the grass around (what used to be) the base were still green so we had to come back today to take pictures.





It was great fun climbing all over that thing again. And then I asked myself, as I heard branches cracking in an unusually loud manner, "If a boy falls in the woods and no one is around to hear it..."



Yup, definately heard it. All the humans and dogs within a half-mile heard it. The squealing and crying that is.

Little guy was breaking off branches and broke off one too many and fell... out of a tree, for lack of a better explanation. I heard what sounded like a large branch cracking and looked to see what the fuss was and caught site of my wonderfully strapping lad, clinging, monkey-style to the trunk (albeit, a horizontal trunk). He was falling and his instinct was to cling to the tree for dear life. So, his entire body was wrapped around that tree trunk. A site that I have never seen before, outside of cartoons or the like. Of course, he was only inches from the ground... but now I can rest a little easier knowing that if a boy falls out of a tree in the woods and his mama ain't there to catch him, he will probably be fine. Seconds later, the high-pitched squealing began. He was fine, save for a puffy lip and a small scratch along the side of his nose and a longer one down his leg.

After the excitement, I, like any mother out for the worse-mother-of-the-year award, ran away from my screaming child to get my camera... sigh, there has got to be something wrong with me, ha

I've been so busy the last month with studying for the PE exam, that I forgot to mention that my newest website is live: westsidecreeks.com, a project for the San Antonio River Authority. You may recognize the logo from a previous post. You may also recognize that the logo from that post is different from this final logo, which went through several more iterations before this final version was approved by the various committees and subcommittees.


I no longer host it or maintain it, so I don't take much cred for it anymore. I can see they've already added some ugly text on the Event Calendar page. Not even the same font or color scheme. Sigh, letting it go...
